As the current President of the GUSD School Board, Jennifer has first hand knowledge of the Glendale Unified School District. Along with her work on the GUSD School Board, Jennifer is former teacher and current parent with children participating in a variety of GUSD programs at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels. She is completing her first term as a GUSD Board Member and fully understands the impact of state funding, specialized programs, and the facility needs of GUSD.
Jennifer's knowledge of school funding and the budgetary process helps ensure that pursuing grant monies for cutting edge, effective programs that bring student success in the 21st century is a priority. Jennifer's work on school board to ensure quality educational programs along with safe and secure facilities is giving our children educational opportunities unparallelled in the Los Angeles area.
Jennifer's earlier grassroots work as a parent and on District Task Forces to ensure these programs are adopted to their fullest for all students stand as a testament to her long term commitment and firsthand knowledge of the complex challenges facing GUSD in remaining academically competitive in today's intellectually expanding world.
Jennifer believes we must clearly focus on building the skills of all our students, whether AP, language learner, or Special Ed, for life long learning and success in our community. She supports school leadership that emphasizes long term quality over short term test results.
